What is Chic Mas?

Chic Mas is a carnival costume section that designs and produces premium costumes for masqueraders participating in carnivals around the world. Our goal is to create unforgettable carnival experiences with beautiful costumes.

 

Do you have are restrictions?

Yes, you will need to be 18 years or over in order to participate in the band on Carnival Monday. ID is required on collection.

 

What is included in my costume?

Each costume section includes specific pieces which may vary depending on the design. Details of what is included are listed on the costume page. Items may include elements such as a headpieces, bras, belts, arm pieces, leg pieces, feathered options and other gemmed accessories.

 

Are costumes handmade?

Yes. Chic Mas costumes are handcrafted and assembled by designers and artisans. Because of this, small variations between the promotional images and final costume may occur.

 

What happens if NHC is cancelled?

In the eventuality that Notting Hill Carnival is postponed or cancelled, all costumes will be completed and distributed in August 2026. The value of the band fee, (the costs excluding those of the materials and labour for the costume), will be deducted/refunded. The theme due for presentation in the cancelled/postponed year will not be carried over.

 

Orders & Payments

How do I purchase a costume?

You can purchase a costume on Playmas by selecting your section, choosing your size and completing checkout.

 

Can I exchange my costume?

Exchanges may be possible depending on availability but are not guaranteed.

When is my payment deadline?

Your deposit is 40% of the total value of the package you order. This is due at the point of placing your order. All costumes must be ordered by 1st May 2026 and must be paid in full no later than 1st June 2026.

IMPORTANT: Failure to meet any of the above payment deadlines may result in the cancellation of your costume.

*Excludes Individual costumes which have a separate payment schedule.

 

Do you offer payment plans?

Although we do not have structured payment plans, once you register, you will be able to make payments at your leisure.

 

Is my deposit refundable?

Deposits are non‑refundable as they secure your place within a costume section and contribute to production costs.

 

Can I change my costume section after ordering?

Section changes are not guaranteed and depend on availability. Please contact us as soon as possible if you wish to request a change.

 

How do I transfer a costume I bought from another masquerader into my name?

Resale costumes are managed in the Playmas system. If you are not clear about any aspect of resales please contact us at support@chicmasquerade.com.

 

Costume Collection

When will I receive my costume?

Costumes are typically distributed a week or two before carnival and during a designated collection period. Exact dates and details will be communicated closer to the event.

 

Costume Collection

Please ensure that your package has been paid in full before attending distribution. Packages must be collected by the person named in the order or by a confirmed designated representative. We are unable to issue your package without a valid form of photo ID.​

A confirmed designated representative can collect your costume on your behalf but must be named on your Playmas account. They must have a copy of your photo ID, this can be a paper or digital document. Without the above documentation, we are unable to release any costumes.

 

Do you ship costumes?

No. All costumes will be distributed at a specific time and place, usually week or two before carnival. We will however let all masqueraders know.

 

What happens if I miss costume collection?

If you are unable to attend the scheduled collection period, please contact us in advance. Costumes not collected during the allocated timeframe may be forfeited without refund.

 

Sizing & Fit

How do I choose the correct size?

A sizing guide is available on our website to help you select the correct size. If you are unsure, please contact us before ordering.

 

Can costumes be adjusted?

Minor adjustments may be possible depending on the costume design, but this cannot always be guaranteed due to production timelines.

 

Refunds & Exchanges

Can I get a refund if I cannot attend carnival?

Unfortunately, refunds are not available if you are unable to attend carnival. Your costume space is reserved and produced specifically for you.

 

What if my costume is damaged or faulty?

If you believe your costume is faulty when you receive it, please notify us immediately during collection or within 48 hours with photos and details.

Can I exchange my costume?

Exchanges may be possible depending on availability but are not guaranteed.

Carnival Experience

Can anyone join Chic Mas on the road?

Participation is limited to registered masqueraders who have purchased a costume in our sections.

 

Will there be music and refreshments?

Chic Mas carnival experiences are all inclusive. As well as your chose costume package, you will have access to an exclusive roped off section for masqueraders behind the truck, where we will play strictly soca with international DJ’s, unlimited alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, a surprise goody bag, breakfast, lunch and snacks throughout the day.

 

Can I bring friends who are not in costume?

Only registered masqueraders wearing Chic Mas costumes may participate within the roped section of the band during carnival. Your friends are more than welcome to walk alongside the band but will not be allowed inside unless they have purchased a costume or t-shirt package.

 

Media & Photography

Will photos or videos be taken during carnival?

Yes. Photos and video footage may be captured during carnival and related events. These may be used by Chic Mas for promotional and marketing purposes.
